How your goals are coming along for this year?

Did I hear you say…“What goals?”

Whether you set formal goals or not, I believe that you always have in the back of your mind things you would like to achieve, so it matters not whether they are stuck on the fridge at home or on your desk at work or just in your head.

The important thing is that you always feel better and hence you are better for, having achieved something, irrespective of how big or small the achievement is.

Here are some helpful hints for you:

  1. Don’t’ look back

Good or bad, last year cannot be changed but what you can do is definitely shape this year and beyond.

  1. Don’t Let Money Define You

It might be great to have millions of dollars, but that doesn’t mean that you and your dream don’t have value. They do. You just need to get in touch with how much your career and life is really “worth,” without the numbers.

  1. Take small steps

It may be best to set mini goals in order to achieve your main goal. Focus on one goal at a time, break it down, and follow through. That way, you make it a little easier to tick the boxes.

  1. Are the goals what we really want?

Sometimes you might think you know what you want, but do you really?

Take your time. Ask yourself why you came up with the goals you did. Don’t be afraid to adjust them if you need to. Your resolutions are your own and this isn’t a contest. Take your time and do what’s best for you.

  1. Know Your Limits

Aim high, not impossible. Know your limits and don’t be ashamed of whatever level you’re at now.

  1. Make it a Habit

Take it one step at a time. Choose your goal, break it down and figure out which tasks you need to perform to make it happen — then turn those tasks into habits.

You should also review your goals and make that another habit as well.

You’ll not only remind yourself what you were after, but why. More importantly, if you’ve made progress, this will be your chance to give yourself a pat on the back.

  1. Give Yourself Something to Look Forward To

If you do nothing but work, you’re going to go crazy. I suggest you make time off or holidays one of your resolutions, if you haven’t already.

More importantly, make room in your life for that goal to be successful. Set a date and take whatever steps you need to to stick to it.

  1. Time to DO

You will only fail if you let that happen so your destiny is in your own hands. Only “action” is going to achieve them. The only difference between the eight percent who succeed at achieving their goals and everyone who doesn’t is that they went out there and made them happen.

Goals don’t expire. You can put them into action at any time.

Though, personally? I’d put them into action now. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next month. Now. Because no matter what the year ultimately brings, there’s no time like the present to start making it a good one.
